The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, a public holiday to mark Eid-ul-Mawlid, the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, announced the holiday on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The Federal Government congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, urging them to emulate the Prophet’s virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion.

Nigerians of all faiths were also encouraged to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity, and stability in the country.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo further urged the Muslim Ummah and Nigerians in general to imbibe the spirit of patience, sacrifice, and resilience.

While congratulating the Muslim community on the occasion, the Minister implored them to pray for enduring peace and a more prosperous nation.

Signed:
Dr. Magdalene Ajani
