 Crescent University Secures NUC Approval for New Academic Programmes

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved three new programmes for Crescent University, Abeokuta, effective from the 2025/2026 academic session.

The newly approved courses are:

▪ LLM Law
▪ BSc Cyber Security
▪ BSc Software Engineering

The approval was communicated through an official letter dated 13 November 2025 (Reference No. NUC/AP/P21/VOL.II/12). The letter was signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Professor Abdullahi Ribadu. The letter was formally presented to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibraheem Gbajabiamila.

Details of NUC Approval

▪ The programmes are approved for full-time mode.
▪ They will be run on the main campus of Crescent University.
▪ They take effect from the 2025/2026 academic session.

This approval officially authorises Crescent University to begin offering the programmes in law and computing.

Role of the NUC in the Approval Process

The NUC, through its Academic Planning Directorate, reviewed and evaluated the university’s request. Following the assessment, the Commission confirmed that Crescent University had met the required academic and infrastructural standards.

During a visit by the Vice Chancellor to the NUC headquarters, the Executive Secretary congratulated the university on its readiness to launch the new programmes.

Beginning from the 2025/2026 session, students can enroll in:

▪ A postgraduate law degree (LLM)
▪ A bachelor’s degree in cyber security
▪ A bachelor’s degree in software engineering

These programmes create more academic and professional pathways in law, digital security, and software development—fields that are experiencing rapid growth in Nigeria and globally.
