LASU Secures NUC Approval for Four New Programmes

Lagos State University, LASU receives NUC approval for four new programmes in the faculty of computing and information technology. 

Lagos State University (LASU) has secured approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to establish four new full-time undergraduate programmes in the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology.

The approval was conveyed in a letter dated 3rd November 2025, signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning, Mr. Abubakar M. Girei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the NUC. The approval followed a rigorous resource verification exercise conducted by expert panels who assessed the availability of adequate human and material resources for the proposed programmes.

Approved Programmes (Effective from the 2025/2026 Academic Session)

▪ B.Sc. Cyber Security
▪ B.Sc. Software Engineering
▪ B.Sc. Information and Communication Technology
▪ B.Sc. Data Science

This development strengthens LASU’s position as a leading institution in technology-driven education and demonstrates its commitment to offering globally relevant academic programmes. The newly approved courses are available only in full-time mode.

By expanding its academic offerings in computing disciplines, LASU continues to equip students with skills required to excel in Nigeria’s growing digital economy and the global tech ecosystem.
