NYSC Requirements for Exemption on Force Grounds

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced updated requirements for graduates seeking exemption from the mandatory one-year national service on the basis of having served in the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

Enter Service Number: Applicants must provide their unique service number, which identifies them within the military records system. This number is crucial for verifying their service history.

Upload Letter of Enlistment: Individuals need to upload a digital copy of their Letter of Enlistment. This document serves as proof of their official induction into the Armed Forces, detailing the terms of their service.

Upload Introductory Letter from the Command: An introductory letter from their military command must be uploaded. This letter should confirm the applicant’s service duration and status, providing an official endorsement for their exemption claim.

Upload Official ID Card: Candidates are required to upload a clear, recent photo or scan of their official military ID card to further validate their identity and service.

According to the NYSC Act, anyone who has served in the Armed Forces or the Nigeria Police Force for more than nine months is eligible for this exemption.

The Director General of NYSC emphasized that these measures will streamline the exemption process for service members while maintaining the standards of the national program.
