JAC Strike: LASU Postpones Exams, Directs Students to Vacate Campus

The Lagos State University (LASU) Senate, at a virtual meeting held on August 2, 2025, has ordered students to vacate the campus and has postponed the upcoming second-semester examinations. This decision was made in response to an industrial action declared by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of staff unions.

Key Decisions and Directives

▪ The 2024/2025 Second Semester Examinations, which were scheduled to begin on Monday, August 4, 2025, have been postponed indefinitely.

▪ All other academic and non-academic activities within the university have been suspended until further notice.

▪ All students residing in university hostels across the Ojo, LASUCOM, Epe, and Badagry campuses are directed to vacate the hostels by 6:00 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2025.

Reason for the Action

The industrial action is being carried out by the LASU chapters of ASUU, NASU, SSANU, and NAAT. Their demands are primarily directed at the Lagos State Government. While the university management has been involved in dialogues, a final resolution is pending, with a follow-up meeting scheduled for August 7, 2025. The university management has advised the community to remain calm and law-abiding during this period.
