The Governing Council of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has opened applications for the position of Vice-Chancellor, with the successful candidate expected to assume office in February 2026. About FUOYE

Established in 2011, FUOYE is a federal university with campuses in Oye-Ekiti and Ikole-Ekiti, Ekiti State. It currently boasts 15 faculties, including Arts, Medicine, Agriculture, and Engineering, along with a postgraduate school, serving over 59,000 students.

Role and Responsibilities

The Vice-Chancellor is the chief executive and academic officer of the university, responsible for its day-to-day administration. Key duties include guiding academic affairs, representing the institution externally, leading Senate meetings, and ensuring orderly university operations, including student admissions (though Senate sets the rules).

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for this prestigious position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

▪ Possess a PhD, unless already a Professor of Medicine.

▪ Have at least 10 years of experience as a Professor in a reputable university.

▪ Demonstrate a clear and outstanding academic record in their field.

▪ Possess experience with international research or significant grant acquisitions.

▪ Be capable of managing the challenges associated with university growth.

▪ Be not above 65 years old by February 2026.

▪ Be physically and mentally healthy.

▪ Exhibit solid character with a clean record and positive public perception.

Terms of the Job

The appointment is for a fixed term of five years, which is non-renewable. The successful candidate will receive the standard federal university Vice-Chancellor perks, with specific details outlined in the offer letter.
