WAEC Debunks Rumour of Exam Cancellation, Urges Public to Ignore False Claims

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Nigeria has refuted circulating rumours about the cancellation of any examination paper. In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Head of Public Affairs Department, Mrs. Moyosola Adesina, the council made it clear that no exam paper has been cancelled.

False Claims Aimed at Causing Panic

The statement noted:

“Although the source of the information is yet to be ascertained, the Council is certain that the false claim is being spread by mischief-makers who are bent on bringing the Council into disrepute and causing confusion and panic among candidates who sat the examination.”

Official Updates Come Only from Verified Channels

WAEC reminded the public that only verified social media handles and accredited media outlets are authorized to disseminate its information. The council emphasized:

“We categorically state that all press releases are issued and signed by the Public Affairs Department on behalf of the Head of National Office. The public should disregard any information not shared via these official platforms.”

Committed to Integrity and Quality

WAEC concluded by appreciating the public’s continued trust:

“Once again, we appreciate all stakeholders for the confidence reposed in us over the past 73 years of conducting credible examinations. We remain committed to innovative, quality service for the Nigerian child.”

Key Reminder: If you didn’t see it on WAEC’s official social media or accredited news outlets, it’s not official.
