2025 UTME: 96,838 Candidates To Sit Mop-up Exams As JAMB Suspends 113 CBT Centres

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that a mop-up Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will be conducted for 96,838 candidates on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

This mop-up examination is for:

  • 5,096 spill-over candidates and those who failed biometric verification during the main exercise.
  • 91,742 candidates who were absent from either or both the main and resit examinations. This opportunity is exclusively for the 2025 UTME.

These candidates are advised to commence printing their examination notification slips from Monday, June 23, 2025, to confirm their assigned centers, dates, and times.

JAMB has also suspended or delisted 113 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers across the country due to various infractions. These infractions include technical issues during the mock and main examinations, as well as involvement in ongoing security investigations into examination malpractice. Some examination towns have been disqualified from hosting the mop-up exam, and affected candidates will be reassigned to nearby centers.

The Board expressed gratitude to security agencies for their role in uncovering identity theft and examination fraud, which has led to several arrests and prosecutions, including some JAMB officials, professional examination takers, and syndicates of school proprietors and tutorial centers.

JAMB emphasizes that the mop-up exam provides an opportunity to apprehend more impersonators, especially undergraduate students. Institutions of apprehended undergraduates will be notified for gross misconduct and potential expulsion, in addition to prosecution under the Examination Malpractice Act, 1999.

Special squads of invigilators and security personnel will be deployed to monitor the mop-up examination as part of a renewed effort to combat malpractice. Candidates for the 8:00 AM session are advised to arrive one to one and a half hours before the examination.
