Nigerian Universities That Offer Admission Without JAMB UTME

For students who have been unable to secure admission through the JAMB UTME, several universities in Nigeria licensed by the National Universities Commission (NUC) provide alternative admission pathways. These institutions focus on O'Level results and offer flexible learning models.

5 Universities That Do Not Require JAMB UTME

Miva Open University:

A private online university that accepts a minimum of five O’Level credits, including English and Mathematics. It is known for online learning, flexible payment plans, and affordable tuition, with a focus on practical skills.

National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN):

As Nigeria’s first open and distance learning institution, NOUN does not require JAMB. It offers self-paced learning and is ideal for students who wish to study while working or managing other responsibilities.

Iconic Open University, Sokoto:

This private institution utilizes an open learning model, giving students control over their study pace and location. Admission requires valid O’Level results but not a JAMB UTME score.

West Midlands Open University, Ibadan:

Another approved open university that offers online quality education. Applicants must have valid O’Level results and complete the school’s internal admission process.

Al-Muhibbah Open University, Abuja:

Licensed by the NUC in 2023, this institution provides open and distance learning for a wide range of courses. Admission is based on O’Level requirements, with no JAMB UTME needed.

Other Alternatives: JUPEB and IJMB

While programs like JUPEB and IJMB can offer a route to 200-level admission, they come with certain considerations:

  • They are often more expensive than direct applications to the open universities listed above.

  • They require a study period of 9 to 12 months.

  • A certificate from these programs does not guarantee automatic university admission.

These universities and programs provide credible and accredited alternatives for students seeking a flexible path to a degree without the traditional JAMB UTME requirement.
