UNN Departmental Cut-Off Marks for All Courses

The UNN departmental cut-off mark is the final score used to determine whether a candidate will be admitted into a particular course. It is derived from candidates’ aggregate scores—a combination of JAMB and UNN internal assessments.

While UNN does not always officially release its departmental cut-off marks, we obtain credible information from reliable sources within the school's admission office.

Important Note:
The official departmental cut-off marks for the 2025/2026 academic session are not yet out. This page will be updated as soon as they are released.

UNN Cut-Off Marks, Admission Factors, and School Fees

1. UNN General Cut-off Mark & Aggregate Score

CategoryScoreDetails
General JAMB Cut-off Mark160This is the minimum JAMB score for all courses for the 2024/2025 academic session.
Lowest Aggregate Score Accepted180Even if the minimum JAMB and Post UTME score is 160, the lowest aggregate score UNN accepts for admission is 180. The aggregate score is calculated by adding your JAMB score and UNN Post UTME score, then dividing the result by 2. This aggregate score is what UNN uses for admission and is equivalent to the departmental cut-off mark.

2. Admission Categories

CategoryDescriptionCut-off Mark Trend
MeritAdmission based purely on academic performance (aggregate score).Varies by department.
Catchment StatesStates geographically within UNN's area (e.g., Enugu, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi).Usually lower than Merit.
Educationally-Less-Developed-States (ELDS)States designated by the Federal Government as educationally less developed (e.g., Gombe, Kano, Kaduna). Schools are mandated to give preferential treatment.Usually lower than Merit.
SupplementaryFor candidates who may not have been admitted in the initial lists.Varies.
Shopping (Change of Course)For candidates who change their course after initial applications.Varies.

3. Important Notes on Admission

▪️ UNN cut-off marks can change each year, sometimes significantly if there's a mass failure.

▪️ Having the correct JAMB subject combination for your chosen course is crucial. Even if you meet the cut-off, a wrong subject combination will lead to disqualification.

▪️ The First Admission List typically includes only candidates admitted through Merit, Catchment, and ELDS. Subsequent lists contain other admitted candidates.
