University Lecturer Collapses and Dies During Sex with Student in Kogi

 

A senior lecturer at Kogi State University, Dr. Olabode Abimbola Ibikunle, has reportedly died during a suspected sexual encounter with a 22-year-old student at a hotel in Anyigba, sparking a police investigation.

The incident occurred on July 15, 2025, when Dr. Ibikunle, who was said to be married with children, checked into the hotel alongside a second-year student identified as Gloria Samuel from the Department of Social Studies Education.

According to reports, the student rushed to the hotel reception seeking help after the lecturer collapsed during the encounter. The hotel manager, Moses Friday, contacted the police immediately.

The student was arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further questioning. The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, confirmed the incident and described it as unfortunate.

An autopsy has been carried out to determine the actual cause of death. Unverified sources allege that the lecturer consumed multiple energy drinks before the incident.

Police investigations are still ongoing, and further action will be based on the outcome of the findings.
