Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has received a significant boost with the National Universities Commission (NUC) granting approval for the commencement of seven new academic programmes. This approval follows a rigorous Resource Verification Visit carried out by NUC panels of experts in May 2025 to assess the institution’s compliance with national academic standards.

The newly approved programmes, which prospective students can now apply for starting from the 2025/2026 academic session, include:

▪️ B.Sc. Mechatronics Engineering

▪️ B.Sc. Agricultural Economics

▪️ B.Sc. Agricultural Extension and Rural Development

▪️ B.Sc. Animal Science

▪️ B.Sc. Crop Science

▪️ B.Sc. Horticulture and Landscape Management

▪️ B.Sc. Soil Science

The approval letter, dated July 17, 2025, was signed by Abubakar M. Girei, NUC’s Acting Director of Academic Planning, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of NUC.

The University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele, expressed delight at the approval, describing it as a "dream come true" and a product of relentless efforts by the academic and administrative staff of the University. He noted that this milestone reflects the university’s unwavering commitment to expanding educational frontiers and addressing the evolving needs of contemporary society.

The Vice Chancellor also extended appreciation to the Governor of Ekiti State and Visitor to the university, His Excellency, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji; the Chancellor of the University, Dr. Tunji Olowolafe; and the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Prof. Akin Oyebode, for their impactful efforts and interest in growing the university globally.

The University’s Management, Staff, and Students received the news with excitement, marking another major stride in the university’s drive towards academic excellence and honor.
