UNILORIN Examination Rules and Regulations 2025

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has issued a strong warning to its students regarding strict adherence to examination rules and regulations for the 2024/2025 academic session. These guidelines are aimed at ensuring academic integrity and preventing examination malpractices. Students are advised to familiarize themselves with these rules as contained in the University Academic Programmes (Undergraduate and Sub-Degree) and the Students Handbook of Information and Regulations.

Key Examination Rules and Regulations:

Permitted Materials: Candidates may only use or consult books, papers, instruments, or other materials and aids specifically permitted or provided by the Department conducting the examination.

Prohibited Items: Students are strictly forbidden from introducing or attempting to introduce into the examination venue items such as handbags, unauthorized books, notes, Mobile Phones (including I-pods, Bluetooth devices, flash drives, etc.), or any other unpermitted materials or aids. Any such item found, even if switched off, will be impounded.

No Inscriptions on Body/Dress: Candidates must not enter any examination venue with inscriptions on any part of their dress or body (e.g., palm, arm, thigh) if such inscriptions are relevant to the examination.

No Communication/Collusion: Students are prohibited from passing or attempting to pass any information from one person to another during an examination. Collusion with other candidates or persons, copying or attempting to copy from another candidate, or engaging in any similar activity is strictly forbidden.

Maintain Orderliness: Candidates must not disturb or distract any other candidate(s) during the examination. For CBT examinations, students must be orderly and abide by the rules and guidelines prevailing at the center.

Matriculation Number Only: Students are to use only their matriculation number for identification during examinations; no names should be written on examination materials.

Exit Time: Candidates will not be allowed to leave an examination venue until after 75% of the time allocated for that particular paper has expired.

No Impersonation: Students are prohibited from writing any University examinations on behalf of other students, nor should other people write any University examination for them.

Incriminating Materials: Being in possession of incriminating material(s), whether used or not, at the examination venue, or involvement in any other serious examination misconduct, including impersonation, before, during, or after an examination, is strictly prohibited.

Electronic Devices in CBT: For CBT examinations, the use of wristwatches, mobile phones, i-pods, etc., is prohibited. Any handset discovered in or around the examination hall will be impounded, irrespective of whether it is switched off.

Important Additional Notes:

■ Students are required to present duly signed original coloured registration forms (not copies) and their University Identity Card at the entrance of the examination halls. Registration forms with any alterations without proper endorsement by the Level Adviser and Faculty Officer will not be accepted.

■ Students who have misplaced their I.D. Cards should urgently request a replacement.

■ Password recovery procedures can be accessed on the University of Ilorin website; students are advised to recover their passwords ahead of the examinations through their registered email.

Consequences of Malpractice:

The University of Ilorin has a zero-tolerance policy for examination malpractice. Penalties for violations can range from rustication for a semester or an academic session to outright expulsion from the university, depending on the severity of the offense. The university has consistently taken stern action against students involved in various forms of misconduct, including examination malpractice, theft, and admission racketeering.
