Rivers State University (RSU), Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt, has commenced supplementary applications for candidates seeking admission into the university for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The RSU Supplementary Post-UTME Form for the 2026/2027 session is available, and the closing date is 6th September 2026. Candidates can apply for available programmes, subject to the stated requirements and programme restrictions.

PROGRAMMES EXCLUDED FROM SUPPLEMENTARY APPLICATION

According to the information provided, supplementary applications are open for programmes except:

Candidates who did not meet the Merit and Catchment Area cut-off marks for their preferred programmes have been advised to apply for supplementary admission and explore other available programme options.

HOW TO APPLY FOR RSU SUPPLEMENTARY FORM

Candidates are required to access the RSU Candidate Application Portal:

Applicants should complete the supplementary application process on or before 6th September 2026.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PROGRAMME CHANGES

The university clarified that only candidates who effected changes of programme on the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) on or before 4th July 2026, before the release of the cut-off marks, were considered for admission by the University Senate Admission Committee.

Candidates who changed their programmes after 4th July 2026 have been advised to proceed with the supplementary application.

WHAT IS SUPPLEMENTARY FORM?

Supplementary admission is intended for candidates who did not meet the required departmental cut-off mark for their preferred programme.

For example, a candidate who applied for Law with a composite score of 42, while the departmental cut-off is 67, may use the supplementary application to apply for another programme where the candidate's composite score meets or exceeds the relevant requirement.

The supplementary form is used by the university to fill available spaces in programmes that have fewer applicants.

Candidates must ensure that their JAMB subject combination is compatible with the course they want to apply for through supplementary admission. Applying for a programme with an incorrect JAMB subject combination may make the candidate ineligible for admission.

IS SUPPLEMENTARY ADMISSION A GUARANTEE?

The supplementary form is not a 100% guarantee of admission.

The source notes that candidates may have better chances when applying for programmes with fewer applicants, giving examples such as French, Animal Science and Crop Science.

Candidates are advised against applying for highly competitive programmes such as Medicine, Law and Medical Laboratory Science through supplementary admission because, according to the source, the chances of admission are extremely low.

▪ Candidates must possess the required five O'Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, in accordance with the university's faculty and departmental entry requirements.
