Important Keyboard Shortcuts All JAMB Candidates MUST Know [UPDATED]

These are nine important computer keyboard shortcuts all JAMB Candidates Must know, to help them write their exam efficiently and pass marvelously. 

These are nine important computer keyboard shortcuts all JAMB candidates must know to help them write their exam efficiently and pass excellently.

One of the challenges most JAMB candidates face is that they don’t really know how to operate computers, especially the use of a mouse. To solve this, JAMB introduced what is called CBT Without Mouse.

CBT Without Mouse means you can write your JAMB exam without touching the mouse.

To achieve this, you need to understand and master these nine (9) keyboard keys, referred to as ABCD PN SRY.

The keys are referred to as ABCD PN SRY! We’ll explain them shortly. 

Explanation of the Keys

▪ Press A — to select option A as your answer
▪ Press B — to select option B as your answer
▪ Press C — to select option C as your answer
▪ Press D — to select option D as your answer
▪ Press P — to go back to the previous question
▪ Press N — to go to the next question
▪ Press S — to submit
▪ Press Y — to confirm submission (YES)
▪ Press R — to return to questions (if you mistakenly pressed submit)

IMPORTANT

Do NOT press Y after pressing S unless you have finished answering all questions in all your subjects.

Once you submit, there is NO GOING BACK.

Key Interface Features

The Timer

The timer appears at the top of your screen and counts down from 2 hours (120 minutes). You will answer 180 questions across four subjects. Monitor this timer regularly to pace yourself properly.

Subject Navigation

You can switch between subjects at any time during the exam. You are not required to start with English Language or follow any particular order. Choose the subject you feel most confident in to build momentum.

Question Numbering

Each question is numbered, and you can see which questions you have answered and which remain unanswered. This helps you track your progress across all subjects.

Time Management Strategy

➣ Average time per question: About 20 seconds

 Total questions: 180 questions in 120 minutes

 Per subject: Approximately 30 minutes for 45 questions

 Tip: Do not spend more than 1 minute on any single question

Other Things You Ought to Know

▪ You will write 4 subjects in JAMB (based on your registration choices).

English Language Structure

➣ SECTION A: Comprehension/Summary
▪ 1 comprehension passage – 5 questions
▪ 1 cloze passage – 10 questions
▪ 1 reading text – 10 questions

 SECTION B: Lexis and Structure
▪ Sentence interpretation – 5 questions
▪ Antonyms – 5 questions
▪ Synonyms – 5 questions
▪ Sentence completion – 10 questions

 SECTION C: Oral Forms
▪ 10 questions

⇭ Total: 60 Questions

▪ Your 3 other subjects will have 40 questions each
▪ That gives you 120 questions for the 3 subjects

▪ Total questions overall: 180 questions
▪ Total time: 2 hours
