Nigerian Student Reportedly Paralyzed After Refusing to Share Phone Number With Alleged Cultist

A Nigerian university student has reportedly been left paralyzed after a brutal attack by an alleged cultist. The incident occurred after she refused to give him her phone number.

The victim's cousin, @VivianRora, shared the harrowing account on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating that her cousin, a student at an unnamed Nigerian institution, suffered a severe spinal injury that has left her unable to walk. "My cousin, a student of a Nigerian institution, was brutally attacked by cultists. They broke her spine, and since that day, she hasn’t been able to stand," @VivianRora wrote. "Her life changed forever. And all this happened because she refused to give them her number. I detest cultism and cultists!"

The post quickly gained widespread attention, drawing outrage and a flood of condemnations against cult-related violence on campuses. Social media users expressed their shock and shared similar experiences of harassment from cultists. Some comments suggested giving a fake number for survival in such situations, highlighting the pervasive fear and lack of safety many face.

The incident has reignited discussions about cultism, campus security, and the dangers women encounter when attempting to assert their boundaries. As of now, there have been no confirmed updates from law enforcement or the university regarding the incident.
