FUNAAB receives NUC approval for re-introduction of Management Degree Programmes

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted official approval for the re-introduction of Management Degree Programmes at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), following a successful Resource Assessment Visit to the proposed courses.

Approved Programmes

According to a statement issued by Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide, the Acting Head, Directorate of Public Relations, the NUC-approved degree programmes include:

▪ B.Sc. Accounting
▪ B.Sc. Banking and Finance
▪ B.Sc. Business Administration
▪ B.Sc. Economics
▪ M.Sc. Agroecology (newly introduced)

Background

This development marks a major milestone in FUNAAB’s academic growth, as the Management programmes are being reintroduced after their delisting in the 2017/2018 Academic Session, following a Federal Government directive that had restricted Management Sciences in Agricultural Universities.

In 2021, the University Senate renamed the former College of Management Sciences (COLMAS) to the College of Entrepreneurial and Development Studies (COLENDS), reflecting FUNAAB’s expanded vision of promoting entrepreneurship and development-driven education.

Next Steps

With this approval, FUNAAB will soon commence admissions into the newly reintroduced degree programmes under COLENDS beginning with the 2025/2026 Academic Session.
