NECO: Students Burns down Principal’s Home After Collecting Fees Without Registration

Final-year students of Gyutiev Model College in Benue State allegedly set fire to their principal's house after accusing him of collecting ₦85,000 from each student for NECO registration without actually registering them.

The incident, reportedly carried out in retaliation for betrayal and negligence, took place in the early hours of Friday.

The students claim Principal Isaac Yina collected the money from 178 SS3 candidates for their 2025 National Examinations Council (NECO) examination, but they discovered he failed to complete the registration, making them ineligible for the exam.

The enraged students allegedly set his residence ablaze, causing significant property damage. \

The Public Relations Officer of the Benue State Police Command, SP Udeme Edet, confirmed she had not yet received an official report but assured an investigation.
