DELSU Changes Admission Screening Method: Adopts 70/30 Grading System

The Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has officially revised its admission screening process for the 2025/2026 academic session, adopting a new 70/30 grading system for evaluating prospective students. This means DELSU has cancelled its Post-UTME examination.

What’s New?

Under the new 70/30 grading system:

▪️ 70% of a candidate’s admission screening score will now be derived from their UTME (JAMB) score.

▪️ 30% will come from the candidate’s O’Level results.

How It Differs from the Previous System

This marks a significant shift from the university’s previous 50/50 grading system, where:

▪️ 50% of the score came from the UTME (JAMB).

▪️ The remaining 50% was based on performance in the Post-UTME examination.

What This Means for Candidates

With this change, DELSU has officially scrapped the Post-UTME examination. Instead, the university will now rely on UTME performance and O’Level results to determine a candidate’s eligibility for admission.

Why It Matters

This move aims to simplify the screening process, reduce exam-related stress, and place more emphasis on consistent academic performance across both national exams and school results.
