How to Check, Accept, or Reject Admission on JAMB CAPS

After logging into JAMB CAPS, follow these steps to manage your admission status:

1. Check Admission Status:

   ▪ On the CAPS portal, your admission status will be displayed. It may show ‘Admitted’, ‘Not Admitted’, or ‘Admission in Progress’.

2. Accept or Reject Admission:

   ▪ If offered admission, two options will be available: ‘Accept Admission’ and ‘Reject Admission’.

   ▪ Click ‘Accept Admission’ to confirm your acceptance.

   ▪ Click ‘Reject Admission’ if you choose not to accept the offer.

Important: Accepting an admission offer means you will no longer be considered for admission by other institutions. Conversely, rejecting an offer reopens the possibility of admission from other institutions.

How to Upload Your Result on JAMB CAPS

Uploading your O’Level results is a critical step in the admission process. Here’s how to do it:

As per JAMB's guidelines for 2026, the official and primary method for uploading your O'Level results is by visiting an accredited JAMB CBT centre. You cannot directly upload the results yourself through your JAMB profile for initial submissions.

▪ Locate an Accredited JAMB CBT Centre
Find the nearest JAMB-accredited CBT centre or JAMB office. You can usually find a list of accredited centers on the official JAMB website (www.jamb.gov.ng).
▪ Prepare Your Documents
Go with your JAMB Registration Number/Profile Code and clear, legible copies of your original O'Level result slip(s) (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, etc.). If you are combining results from two sittings, ensure you have both slips.

▪ Inform the CBT Operator
Clearly state to the CBT operator that you need to upload your O'Level result(s) to your JAMB profile.

▪ Provide Details for Upload
The CBT operator will access your JAMB profile using your registration details. They will then input your subjects and grades from your O'Level result slip(s) and scan the physical copies for upload.

▪ Review and Confirm Accuracy (Crucial!)
Before the process is finalized, carefully review all the details displayed on the operator's screen. Ensure that your name, exam number, subjects, and grades are 100% accurate and match your original result slip(s). Any errors here can lead to significant admission issues.

▪ Make Payment
Pay the required service fee to the CBT centre. This fee typically ranges from ₦500 to ₦1,500.

▪ Obtain Confirmation Slip
Request and obtain a printout or confirmation slip from the CBT centre as proof that your O'Level results have been successfully uploaded to the JAMB portal.

Note: Ensure that the details entered match exactly with your official O’Level certificate to avoid discrepancies.

How to Accept or Reject a Course Transfer on JAMB CAPS

Sometimes, an institution may offer you admission into a course different from your initial choice. To respond to such offers:

1. Access the ‘Transfer Approval’ Section: Within the CAPS portal, locate and click on ‘Transfer Approval’.

2. View Proposed Transfer: Details of the new course will be displayed for your consideration.

3. Accept or Reject:

▪ To accept the new course, click ‘Accept’.
▪ To decline, click ‘Reject’.

Remember: Accepting a course transfer finalises your admission into the new programme while rejecting it allows you to await other offers.

 Must I Write JAMB UTME?

Not all institutions in Nigeria require candidates to take the JAMB UTME. For example, Miva Open University, a degree-awarding open university recognised and licensed by the National Universities Commission (NUC), does not require a JAMB UTME for admission.

After admission, the WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB results submitted by students during the application stage will be verified for authenticity. Additionally, JAMB Regularisation will be completed to formalise the admission process where necessary.
